Leader Councillor Guy Aston

· My career began at Barclays Bank, which I found unfulfilling, leading me to pursue a new path at sea.

· I served in the Royal Navy as an anti-submarine officer in the Fleet Air Arm, where I developed essential leadership skills.

· Following my military service, I spent a decade in fire and security protection with Thorn-EMI in West London, excelling in sales management and significantly contributing to the company’s success before being recruited by a client.

· In 1986, I became the National Sales Manager at Newmark Technology, a security technology start-up at Heathrow. Although the company has since been sold, the experience I gained there was invaluable.

· From 1989 to 2019, I worked with the Huthwaite Research Group (later Huthwaite International) in Wentworth, South Yorkshire. Huthwaite was an organisation that researched and taught behavioural effectiveness. Over 30 years, I thrived in various roles, primarily as a Business Director, collaborating with renowned blue-chip companies and dynamic SMEs across the UK and Europe, and occasionally beyond. My final project involved coaching a significant negotiation for BP in Baku, Azerbaijan, regarding the purchase of a new refinery plant.

· Since retiring in 2019, I have focused on my passion for writing historical novels as a side hustle.

My political journey began in 1973 when I briefly joined the Liberal Party.

· In 2010, I became a member of the English Democrats and was proud to see Peter Davies elected as the English Democrat Mayor of Doncaster. I briefly served as local chairman and actively participated in local elections.

· In 2014, I joined Doncaster UKIP, where I helped build a dedicated team of 70 activists. I contested local elections and represented the Don Valley constituency during the 2016 General Election, receiving an impressive 9,500 votes. I served as chair of Doncaster UKIP, passing the leadership to my wife when I ran for the Don Valley seat, demonstrating my commitment to our goals and community engagement.

· In September 2025, I joined Doncaster Reform.
